3 Signs You Need a Roof Repair

Your home’s roof does much more than protect your family and property from the elements; it also keeps you warm and healthy and provides structural stability. Minor roof damage can quickly escalate to a major problem, so it’s vital to know the signs of a roof in need of repair.

Shingle Damage

Check your gutters for shingle granules. If you notice more than a few, this could be a sign that your roof needs new shingles. If you ever see whole damaged shingles in your yard around the perimeter of your house, take it as a sign to call your roofer. Shingle damage can allow water to enter your roof, and the more water that accumulates inside your roof, the more likely your home is to sustain serious structural damage.

Leaks

The first sign of a roof leak will be in the attic. Unfortunately, unless you visit your attic regularly you may not notice a leak until it starts seeping into lower floors. If you notice dark spots on the walls or ceiling, check your attic or crawlspace for signs of leakage. It’s also a good idea to check for leaks in your attic after any serious storms; this lets you have as much time as possible to address roof leaks from storm damage. Checking for damage on a regular basis can also help if you need to file an insurance claim for roof damage.

Insulation

Warm air rises, so the roof of your home keeps warm air inside. Many homes have heating and ventilation systems to help recirculate warm air. If you notice a sudden drop in the interior temperature of your home, this may be due to heat escaping through a damaged roof.

Any of these issues require immediate attention; the longer you wait to address roof damage, the more expensive the resulting repairs will be. Rogue Valley Roofing can help you quickly diagnose roof damage and arrange for the necessary repairs with a competitive rate.
